Banana Cabana is Adam’s newest music project comprising of highly talented musicians: Matt Hopper on bass; Ben Morrow on percussion; Dave Knirk on alto sax; and Adam on guitar and vocals.
Banana Cabana is a mix of genres centering around Latin jazz but their sound and energy continue to evolve. Adam is now playing electric guitar instead of his traditional nylon string guitar and some have compared his new sound to Santana where he is combining a mix of rock, jazz and electric melodies. Banana Cabana is performing live and will be recording their new material in the upcoming months.
Adam’s previous two albums, Sonic Breeze and Unfolding Time, feature a handful of Seattle All-Stars: Hans Teuber on tenor, alto and flute; Jeff Busch on kit and percussion;
Tim Kennedy on rhodes; Birch Pereira upright and electric bass; Gil Guilmares on upright bass, Dave Bush on kit, and Allison Philpot on flute and vocals. These two albums showcase Adam’s gifted singing and songwriting abilities to blend different musical styles to create his own unique sound.
Adam started on bass guitar at the age of 14. He learned to play by ear by jamming with his friends to Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin in their parents’ basements. His first introduction into musical study was a one year crash course at Western Washington University in Bellingham. He has studied privately with Robin Kutz and is currently studying with Don Mock.
Adam Hunter’s music continues to grow in depth and in spirit.
